Preparation of your quilt top and back
  • Quilt backing needs to be a total of 8" longer and wider than your quilt top (4" larger on all sides), to allow for loading onto machine.
  • Backs must be squared off, with sides parallel, and top and bottom edges parallel; 90° corners.
  • If you are supplying your own batting, it must be at least the same dimensions as your backing. Alternatively, I can supply economical batting off the roll.
  • Thoroughly press quilt top and back making sure all seams are secure and seam allowances are pressed either open or to one side. Quilt tops that do not lay reasonably flat when pressed may be returned for corrective work.
  • Make sure all loose threads are clipped from top and back.
  • If quilt top or back is directional, please pin a tag to the piece indicating directionality (i.e. top, right or left side).
  • Quilt must be in separate layers, not basted.
  • Note: Tops of non-standard shapes, scalloped edges, double wedding ring, etc. are fine, but will incur an extra loading charge of approximately $10.  Scalloped edges in particular are best done by the customer marking the scallops on the border fabric, but not trimming. During the quilting process, I will baste the edges of the scallops. Final trimming can then be done after the quilting is complete prior to binding.
