Many customers prefer not to spend the time and money having their quilt custom quilted. Perhaps it will be a day to day use quilt and be washed frequently. In this case function and a reasonable price may be a little more important than making an artsy statement. Today's huge variety of pantograph designs are perfect for this. A pantograph is a form of edge to edge quilting that is economical, but provides the ability to customize the design to the quilt, it's fabrics, or it's ultimate owner. Choose from traditional, contemporary or Asian inspired designs. Theme designs cover a broad range of interests from gardening, sports, or dog toys, to sewing or even Mayan archeology. Also available are beautiful natural designs like leaves, trees, or flowers, or simple geometric designs such as swirls, square spirals, or basket weave.
Do you have a quilt top that you would like to have professionally quilted, or do you have one in progress that needs to be finished by a certain date? Give me a call. It is my business to help you turn your top into a beautiful, finished quilt for yourself or some lucky recipient to enjoy!
I try to provide my customers with a fast turn-around time, although depending on the season my lead time can be as little as 2 weeks or can be 6-8 weeks or more. It is always a good idea to contact me in advance and reserve a spot, especially if you have a deadline, like a graduation, a baby shower, etc.
Examples of custom forms of quilting can be seen in these photos. Custom quilting usually involves outlining the design elements in the quilt top, pieced or appliqued, and executing original designs within these areas.
The majority of my business used to be edge to edge quilting, although in the last year or two I find myself doing more and more custom work. I am working on an update to my gallery pages to show lots of examples of both edge to edge and custom designs. I also hope to have a library of currently available pantograph designs shown both on paper and quilted out on fabric very soon.
By viewing my current gallery pages, I hope you will get a sense of the broad range of quilting possibilities available for your project. Please feel free to contact me to discuss ideas for your specific quilt. In most cases I can give you quilting suggestions and a close estimate of pricing over the phone or by email.
